5S Programs

Recognized as an industry standard, 5S is a system to improve workplace productivity, quality and safety and comprises of five simple steps:

Sort

Remove from the workplace all items that are not needed.
 - Sorting means leaving only the bare necessities
 - When in doubt, throw it away or “Red Tag” it

Decide what is needed, decide where it is needed, decide how much
you need. Use Red Tags to make decisions on items.

Set in Order

A place for everything and everything in its place!
Decide where things should go, label the item and the space. Use colour coding, signage and floor markings.

Consider ergonomics/safety and frequency of use.

Shine

Remove sources of contamination and error.
A clean workplace highlights problems quickly. Often referred to as "Sweep" this stage introduces the concept of visual workplace - any item out of place is quickly detected, and rectified.

Standardise

Set standards for inspections, cleaning, lubrication and other routine tasks.
An important factor in high performance teamwork is the establishment of standards. High standards ensure that the gains from the previous 5S activities are locked in and do not slip over time.

The goal is to be "Tour Ready" at any time.

Sustain

Maintain the momentum, your competitors are!
Implement continuous improvement processes to maintain the efforts, regular assessments and Kaizen (Rapid Improvement Events) will ensure that you continue to improve your workplace.

Lean Manufacturing Implementation

Our Lean Manufacturing programs can be government subsidised.

Lean Manufacturing provides your orgranisation with a framework to simplify your processes, reducing the time it takes to convert a customer order into a real product. This frees up resources to add additional value to your business, without adding additional cost.

The process is based on five concepts

  • Identifying value adding activities

  • Improving work flows

  • Reducing non-value adding activities

  • Matching resources with demand

  • Continuous improvement - the pursuit of perfection

Make your business more profitable by applying these concepts today.
